Griselda... The Forgotten


A person I admire in my field is Griselda Hinojosa, first woman to obtain the title of pharmacist in Chile.
Born and raised in the city of Copiapo, Griselda composed the group of the first women to opt for the higher education given in Chile, being this, the fifth woman graduated and with obtaining of a professional degree in university of Chile.

It ran in the year 1877, and the Chilean Government was presided by Aníbal Pinto Garmendia, being this government that on February 6, 1877 manages to sign a decree that allowed the access of the women to the higher education, which I mean without place to doubt one of the largest Facts that we have achieved as a society, driving and delivering a right that absurdly women did not have.

I admire and consider this woman important, because along with the group of other women who managed to perform the feat in those years, not only was trying to have been able to enter a university, if not that it was one of the first instances in our history to demonstrate the capacity that women always had, and at the same time, to put in evidence, the absurd mentality of the cave man.

My future profession

Today I want to write a little about my future profession and how it was that I decided to study this major. I’m currently studying the major of Chemistry and Pharmacy, which means a lot to me because it allows me to develop all the knowledge and areas that I like. Besides, I think it allows me to develop as a complete professional, able to manage the sciences. In my opinion, this profession is one of the most important because it has the capacity to develop in different areas, such us pharmacy, industry, teaching, investigation and a lot of areas more. On the other hand, this profession plays a fundamental social role, because not only does it look for ways to create new medicines to cure pathologies, but it also looks for ways that society can have a better quality of life. No doubt that this last point was the one that made me decide for this major, the fact of having the possibility to give the population a tool that improves their quality of life, fills me as a fut...

The Living keys of jazz

At the beginning of 2013, the coming to Chile of one of my favorite artists was announced, and from the first moment I knew I had to go. The announced artist was Herbie Hancock, one of the living legends of Jazz. Herbie Hancock is a American keyboardist which was elbowed whit the biggest of the genre, like Pastorius, Davis, Chick Corea, Hubbard and an endless number of great artist. But Hancock is not only a musician who accompanied others, since he is also one of the great. I think it’s one of the biggest jazz fusion influences after the 70s and his album Headhunters is certainly a work of art. Finally came August, and with it the long awaited concert. The concert took place at the Teatro Caupolicán and it was with great musicians worthy of their level. There was a atmosphere in which all present we feel in a kind of intimacy with the artista. It certainly has been my best concert, in which I felt really happy to be able to hear Hancock's keys Live.

My dream job

A lot before deciding to study the major I study today, I was always interested in music and a step to devote myself completely to it. During my middle school, was always present the problem to decide to go on the side of the sciences or a more artistic side, but obviously I decided for the world of chemistry. But I think if I hadn't decided on this, anyway my dream job would be to devote myself to music. If I had decided on this path, I did not like the idea of being the musician as such, but I would have liked to devote myself to music production. For this, I had planned to study the major of Sound Engineering, since to be behind a musical product, you must have a wide technical and musical knowledge that only you get the formal studies. This work I imagine totally indoor, but not necessarily in an office, but rather in a musical studio surrounded by knobs and synthesizers … an amusement park for me. I think this job would give me the opportunity to create a...
